Chelsea holds a Doctorate in Philosophy with a specialization in Women’s and Gender Studies and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in English Creative Writing from Marist College. At UNL Chelsea developed and taught Medical Ethics, Feminist Theory, and Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies courses. She has guest lectured on issues of implicit bias in business and presented research at renowned academic conferences and workshops. Chelsea’s passion for DEI developed over the course of her graduate career. Her experiences leading an interdisciplinary reading group and taking courses focused on illuminating and centering marginalized perspectives, along with her role on a social climate improvement team which sought to build a more inclusive environment for women and minorities in her graduate department all developed her understanding of systemic injustice. These experiences inspired Chelsea’s dissertation research identifying constructions of race as drivers of racism and inequity, as well as her work to build equitable and inclusive organizations with IDEA Consulting.
